Care
- The bromeliad actually doesn't make it difficult for you. Its heart thrives on low-lime water. Always water it into the leaf funnels and flowers. That's where it stores its water. The soil should only be slightly moist. - High humidity is good for this plant, so it should be regularly misted with soft, lime-free water. - Scale insects are best controlled with a soap-alcohol solution. Spider mites can often simply be showered off over the tub. - Plants sensitive to direct sunlight are best placed near an east or west window with mild morning or evening sun. - Over time, the soil loses some important properties. Therefore, the plants should be repotted every two years in spring into a larger pot with fresh container plant soil. - High water permeability of the substrate is extremely important: waterlogging and standing water in the pot inevitably lead to rot.
Location
Bromeliads like to be in partial shade and bright rooms. Like any good bartender, it doesn't cope well with direct midday sunlight either. Morning sun suits it best. Dry air in the apartment? Relax, it can handle that. This houseplant loves a sunny to semi-shady spot. Its ideal temperatures are around 20°C in summer.
